Soseigawa Park

Soseigawa Park was established as a place for people to interact and relax, connecting the east and west of the Soseigawa River. It is a park full of moisture from the water of the Soseigawa River and the greenery of the city center that continues from Odori Park, which have been loved by the residents from long ago.

The park is dotted with 18 sculptures by three artists. In the “Mannaka Square” where it joins with Odori Park, there is a white circular bridge by Kozo Nishino called the “Snow Ring” that is installed over the Soseigawa River. It indicates the origin zero point of the north, south, east, and west of Sapporo.

Historical Monuments

A rest area based on the “Minami Ichijo Police Station”, which once existed here, is set up in the “Pioneer Square” centered on the Soseigawa Bridge of Minami Ichijo. This is also a place where you can see the history of Sapporo, such as the “Monument for the Establishment of Sapporo”, indicating that this area is the basis of the city of Sapporo, as well as the “Otomo Kametaro Statue”, a statue of the person responsible for Otomo-bori, which was what the Soseigawa River was once called.
