The Dahlia Gardens are composed of a great number of Dahlia cultivars, mainly local hybrids of Hokkaido. people can enjoy them from August until the first frost.

D. coccinea is said to have been used as parents of single Dahlia hybrids. It's although wild, it is so attractive with bright orange ray florets, that it isn't at all inferior to cultivar. D. merckii, cute pink flower, is not gorgeous, but, is one of interesting species which had been also used as parents of hybrid dahlias.

Many Dahlias, which have been produced by Mr. Yamaki in Hayakita, Hokkaido, are planted in the garden. They are planted out of respect for him. He has produced over 20 Dahlias every year. More Dahlias will be also introduced from now on.
